Privacy implied? Unless my friend was on a phishing site pretending to be Sideshift, they require you to allow javascripts and become a "test pilot" by linking clearnet account(s) for personal identity verification. They may fix this later when they feel their code is secure?

Hi @Big_Bubbler, thank you for sharing your thoughts in regard to the post and Sideshift. I don't disagree with you. The pilot program may require some form(s) of personal identity verification. However, it was my understanding (based on statements made by Brekken in the video published on Bitcoin[.]com's youtube channel) that he (or Sideshift) does not want to know who users are (or anything else about users). It appears that's not applicable to their pilot program. Hopefully once the testing is complete trading at Sideshift wont require too much personal identity verification (outside of enabling javascript in Tor browser). I apologize for my report not being exceptionally thorough. Just wanted to help share a project which I believe will be immensely useful (and will likely be one of the first exchanges to list BCH tokens (SLP)) and wont require KYC / AML. Thank you again for taking the time to post a thoughtful and level-headed reply.

Thanks for your even more level-headed reply to my comment :-). I wonder if they are based in the USA? If so, they would probably have to provide a "back door" to Homeland Security or some other agency that could then add a javascript trojan to attempt to identify users. Using Tor would help make that difficult, in theory.
