United States This week, President Donald Trump gave the annual State of The Union speech to congress. He called for bipartisan support, but he doesn't have a great history on this. Talks about keeping the government funded appear to be stalling too - a new deal has to be agreed by Friday. Governor Ralph Northam, of Virginia, came under pressure after his medical school yearbook photos revealed him dressed in blackface and the KKK uniform. He proceeded to admit this, but then confusingly denied it the next day. He has said he is staying put despite outcry across both aisles. United Kingdom This week, Jeremy Corbyn, the Leader of the Opposition wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, outlining his five key areas, pertaining to trade, the customs union, security, commitment to science/research, and the border in NI. If these are addressed by the governments brexit deal, they will help vote it through parliament. Theresa May rejected parts of the letter, especially pertaining to the customs union. Nonetheless, parliament remains in gridlock while the Brexit countdown is looming. Europe In France, Emmanual Macron has been hosting town hall meetings to attempt to generate new ideas. In response to record low ratings and weekly protests from the Gilets Jaunes, this discussion of ideas across the country is an attempt to demonstrate that ideas are worth debating. He has previously been considered 'out-of-touch' and an elitist - but the public seem to be responding well to this with his polls going up. Asia This is a new section added from last week on request - I am not that clued up on Asian news but will try get more informed In Thailand, Princess Ubolratana, decided to run for Prime Minister. Thailand has a strict code of the monarchy having political neutrality. The Princess has claimed she has cut off all royal ties and lives as a commoner, making her eligible to be PM. It appears she has lost backing of the party set up to support her. South America Not too much to report here other than that protests are still ongoing in Venezuela. Fun news for the week Someone last week requested a light-hearted story/something fun that happened this week. In a sad fashion I will have to disappoint. If you see a fun story please post it in the comments!
India's opener Prithvi Shaw started the innings along with KL.Rahul against west indies.within a few balls his partner got out & shaw started playing his innings without any kind of pressure & fear . Later Pujara started contributing runs & they builded a strong partnership that helped shaw to gain confidence . He scored a century within 99 balls ( 13 boundaries ) played like a ODI. He is the 15th player to achieve this record . Shaw is the fourth youngest to score a century in international Test debut. Shaw holds record-breaking record : For achieving this record even Master waited for 13 test matches to score debut century. Now shaw made it he scored his debut century in test match as well as in Ranji trophy . No other cricketer has his record. After Master : Prithvi Shaw is currently 18 years old scored century but Master made his century in India for 17 days and 107 days. Shaw was the second youngest to reach a century after Sachin. If one has tallent none can beat you & you can make a history :)
From the Sports Desk of, THE CLEARLAKETONIAN HAROLD Breaking Clear Lake, news! Shakily Marked with a marker…. Destroy Him!…. This document was discretely saved (stolen) off of the top of our editors paper shredder. By Sports Reporter Hank Hunk *Editors note and disclaimer from Chief Editor, Wilton Cramburger I still Stand by every word of my last warning note to you and add this. I have an old goose call that sounds better than this morons name! And now to the news! Hank Hunk reporting! Hank Hunk Here! On a somba note I regret to inform my dedicated readers that Steve Johnson has suffered an unusual and freak snow shovel handle accident this morning after a sudden stop. While using a "NON-OSHA APPROVED" straight hickory handled push snow shovel and running at top speed in training for his upcoming match race with Selvete Achoo after ice out and not before. Johnson hit a heretofore unknown obstruction in his driveway vaulting him airborne off his property and into the neighbors set out recycling bin full of beer cans! Said beer cans (ouch!), exploded on mass all around the knocked out and hurt Johnson, completely leaving the wrong impression to all later passer byes who shook their heads in utter disgust and kicked him! And no one rendered aide! As a reminder, It is an ticketable offense in Clear Lake to not notify trash authorities about spilled trash! If you see something, call! Later, after coming to, Johnson awoke, in agony and unaided by any aide, started crawling back to his house while deftly dodging kicks with his cat like ears and reflexes ! People! ( Because Johnson camouflages himself and shovels snow in a tight, Snow White unitard with ears sewn onto the hood, those often used by speed skaters, this may well have , probably maybe, saved his life from direct impact kicks!) Meanwhile….. Johnson's mind, like the steel trap that it is, kicked into investigator mode on the crawl back across his driveway where to his horror and shock he found a single Newport Menthol cigarette butt stuck in his beard! Was this a real clue or planted false evidence? In addition Johnson found a purposely frozen down brick (with water, now called ice), encapsulating the brick apparently removed from the Clear Lake lakeside, by the lake, hiking trail with a partially visible name chiseled into it yet to be decoded! Johnson suspected but also liked Selvete Achoo and wanted to know her better and who wouldn't ? She's a smart young beautiful slim Finnish swimmer and Johnson just couldn't believe that…..that little smoker could have been involved with this evil sinister staged, set up and well planned accident! Johnson had enemies enough and even Selvete Achoo's mother, Uma Achoo, had given Johnson the stink eye! I mean Johnson can't help that people's eyes water and turn red because of how bad he smells when working out for this match race combined with his detox diet of steamed garlic and lutefisk! But Steve Johnson has a cast iron constitution and has cheated death before, in fact so many times, that he lost count at three! So the bearded reclusive and disheveled Johnson is recuperating at home (alone), in a torn out in the crotch, foot print laden, hooded snow white unitard with ears, from unknown injuries, while contemplating criminal evidence and his next move in this chess game now known as; The Cross Clear Lake Challenge! Hank Hunk founded a charitable organization that also accepts donations for the Venetian Blind, known simply as; FIGHTING STUPIDITY WITH [STUPIDITY.COM ](http://STUPIDITY.COM) Which comes easy for him!
Taken from the Sports Desk of , CLEARLAKETONIAN HAROLD Breaking Clear Lake, news! By Sports Reporter Hank Hunk *Editors note and disclaimer Due to forced nepotism and undue pressure from my wife, I was coerced into hiring this moronic reporter because he is my wife's older brother (by 50 years!). So, due to historically bad inbred family decisions and the Wrath of God trying to straighten his dumb ass out, this reporters life became the inspiration for the hit single by Tom Arnold, "I'm my own Grandpa" from which he receives absolutely no royalties. And now to the news Hank Hunk reporting by the see wall. Hank Hunk Here! Just so you can better follow my stellar journalistic achievements I want to remind everyone hear that my given name formerly was known as Ingwer Gerfuuckle (long u like ukulele) which was too hard for even me to spell in high school! So now with my new pen name, I only have to remember to change one letter between my first and last names! Odd though, how people respond to my new name with some unknown foreign reply of "Gesundheit"? Anyway, in this slow sports transition season from football to hopscotch, I wanted to highlight a developing story Deer to my Heart, as I have always looked up to this man and patterned my life after him, none other than Steve Johnson! AKA, Johnson! Years ago, Johnson was renowned in the Navy for his powerful long distance Surf swimming breaststroke. A grueling pacesetter for swimming Navy Seals into shape, in Hawaii, in the 1980s. Johnson continued to set the bar high by moving to Clear Lake, over two thousand miles away from the nearest ocean! By pure chance, Johnson and I were reminiscing near the lake recently and ran into another former swim champion of Finnish decent! (Which fits well in my mind anyway of a fast swimmer!) going by the name of Selvete Achoo. When all were introduced to each other, we all responded in smiling unison! "Gesundheit!" Well, a triple bond and budding rivalry was formed right then and there by the lake, between the two swimming legends and me! The young slim and Finnish, Selvete Achoo. The aging but still able to stand, Johnson. And this crack reporter! After hearing one two many of Johnson's boastful Navy stories about a rouge wave picking him up out of the Surf and tossing him into a Dole Pineapple cannery, (where he was nearly crushed to death!) the gauntlet was thrown down by Achoo! " Put up or Shut up Old Man!" I heard her say in between puffs on a Newport menthol cigarette. And the Cross Clear Lake Challenge was born! A match race , in the lake, after it thaws out and not before, to determine the best of the best swimmers that this town has to offer! This race, when it happens , could be remembered worldwide for years to come and I am wagering my journalistic career on it. Hank Hunk knows a good story when he smells it. Also a little bit smelly, Johnson hushily confided to me later, that all he had to do to win, was throw a couple cartons of Newport Cigarettes up on Selvete Achoo's deck a week before the race to insure his victory! So stay tuned as I dig deeper into the history of these two galant swimmers and their escalating war of words leading up to a pre race confrontation you won't want to miss! Hank Hunk did not graduate from anywhere.
Clear Lake, Iowa. AP Newswire/Newsflash for immediate release. In a breaking news story this morning a Clear Lake man may soon be charged with tomato fraud for allegedly submitting a staged photo of a large beefsteak tomato next to a child's size basketball. Claiming a world record breaking tomato the size of a regulation basketball, Steve Johnson had hopes of national recognition in the National Enquirer for fame and fortune. " Can you just imagine what I could have sold those seeds for?" His alleged co-conspirator, Eddie, AKA "Big Eddie", is well connected at the Congregational church with his 'Nana' working there. Asked about his shameful implication of a mere child, Johnson replied. " Think about this like an adult for a minute, why don't you? It was his toy basketball, Hello! It was all his idea you know, get real!" As he was being led away. Ed Walker, aged 9 months, is not expected to be charged according to Cerro Gordo County Garden Enforcement officer Mortimer Cramden. Adding "You know that tomato fraud rears its ugly head about this time every year!"

A well documented side-effect of social media is the existence of the 'echo chamber'. This occurs because we tend to follow people who align with our views, reinforcing our existing biases. Furthermore, social media websites suggest news stories you are likely to click on. Echo chambers mean that we live in different realities to those which exist. Everything on "the other side" is considered fa...
